🚞 Making mountains or molehills?

I'm bad at this...

I overlook and undervalue the things that are going well.

When a client comes to me with a challenge, I often make it out to be a bigger deal in my head than it actually is.

I forget that they came to me in the first place because they heard that I solved the same challenge before.

I don't truly know why I do this.

When I play(ed) sports, I would repeat the same motion that got me to that point. e.g. In basketball, I always shot a free throw the same way, and 90%+ of the time it worked.

My best guess is that it's because I'm not properly valuing the execution of the shot I just called. Also, unlike sports where I can get an infinite number of reps, I only get a finite number of reps per year. And there really are no practice reps because both I and the client are running actual businesses.

TL;DR

When it feels like I'm pushing something uphill, I ask myself, "Are you making mountains or molehills?"

Keep the focus on making the molehills. They're ever-growing mountains.
