Respect their time
A few things I’ve seen in email inboxes this month:
49 year-old man is dead within 25 minutes of collapsing.
30-something woman is diagnosed with an aggressive cancer.
40-something man was served divorce papers in his email inbox.
This is not an email to tell you to live each day as your last.
This is not an email to tell you to be kind.
This is an email to remind you to have faith that a person's world can be disrupted in the blink of an eye.
Engage with your priority peaches. But engage with respect for their time.
A few things you can do...
Do you need to leave a voicemail when a text will do?
Copy and paste this into an email, “You crossed my mind so wanted you to know. No need to reply.”
Never make blind introductions. Always ask permission from both sides. e.g. "One of my friends wants to talk to you about a startup she’s launching. Would you be ok with the introduction?"
When you engage with people have respect for their time.
Be a pro.
